Health Check! I was recently at my chiropractor and he asked, “How are you?” I replied, “That’s a loaded question!” He was, of course, asking about my physical health (which I did answer) and then proceeded to examine and adjust my back. Later the same morning, I was sitting with a friend (a coach) talking about my health as a leader. Why do I do these things? Because health matters!
Whether you go to a doctor, dentist, therapist, or you choose to exercise, read, or get your rest… we do this because we want to be (or get) healthy! And, as pastors and ministers, we should be just as concerned about our health!
Fall Retreat 2023 is an opportunity for a “health check”—to come together as ministers and friends to assess and invest in our personal and leadership health through spiritual refreshing, soul care, physical rest, and social connection. To assist us in this endeavour, we are excited to have Jason Small (Western Ontario District Superintendent) joining us and his wife Carla (Director of Creative Arts, Mapleview Church) to minister to us in word and worship. We have also invited Tony and Gwen Schnare (Fairhaven Retreat Centre) to be with us again, who will be available to meet with individuals/couples for some soul-care conversations.
Your health matters! Plan to join us October 16-18 at Manitou Springs (Watrous) and invest in your personal and leadership health!
In His grip,
Paul Israelson
District Superintendent
